Banking News – Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has briefed parliament on the flood in the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli River. During the meeting of the House of Representatives held today, Minister Shrestha provided information on the damage caused to electricity infrastructure by the devastating flood on Bhadau 10, human casualties, rescue, relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

Stating that the flood caused massive loss of life and property, he gave courage, saying that grief must be transformed into courage and strength, tears must be wiped, and mud and dust must be shaken off to rise again. “This disaster has snatched away many people’s guardians. Many laps have been emptied, many partings have been widowed, and the support of life has been lost. Some have lost their homes, some their employment, and some the very foundation of their lives. This is a deep and never-erasing wound inflicted by nature,” he said. “Amid such suffering, we stand at a difficult crossroads. Should we collapse in grief, or transform that grief into courage and strength and rise again? We must rise — wiping tears, shaking off mud and dust, we must rise. We must rise to make the future of citizens safe and beautiful. We must instill hope and trust in citizens, with the expectation that no mother will ever have to cry in such a disaster again, that our children’s schools will not be destroyed, and that businesses will not be swept away and left helpless.”
