Issuing an audio-visual message today, Minister Mehta stated that the ministry is on standby with high alert, keeping in mind the situation where heavy to very heavy rainfall is currently occurring in various parts of the country and floods, landslides, and inundation may occur due to the rainfall.

She informed that arrangements have been made for hospitals and health institutions across the country to keep necessary manpower, medicines, and health materials on standby, to continuously operate emergency health services, and to mobilize health workers immediately if a disaster situation arises.

Minister Mehta informed that the ministry has been maintaining continuous coordination between provincial and local level health agencies and has kept provincial health emergency operation centers on standby 24 hours a day to collect information, coordinate, and manage response.

Minister Mehta stated that arrangements have also been made to maintain adequate stock of necessary medicines and health materials, anti-snake venom, drinking water, and other essential materials in potentially at-risk areas, and to keep rapid response teams on standby. She requested pregnant women near their expected delivery date, patients with chronic illnesses, and citizens regularly taking medicines to exercise necessary caution and keep an adequate amount of regularly consumed medicines with them. “The Ministry of Health is on standby with all necessary mechanisms for the health security of citizens,” Minister Mehta said.
