Banking News – Nepal Rastra Bank will provide new notes this year’s Dashain. The central bank has been distributing new notes under its regular note exchange facility. Since the great festival of Nepalis, Bada Dashain, also falls at this time, the general public will be able to exchange new notes during Dashain.

According to Anuj Dahal, Executive Director of the Currency Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank has been distributing new notes based on necessity and appropriateness, not specifically targeting Dashain. According to him, Nepal Rastra Bank has also provided both new notes and clean notes to various banks and financial institutions.

Currently, Nepal Rastra Bank has been exchanging both types of notes — new notes and clean notes. He informed that new notes are being given to those who need new notes and clean notes to those who need clean notes.

“Nepal Rastra Bank has been carrying out note exchange as part of its regular work,” he told Banking Samachar. “In this process, we are currently giving new notes as part of regular work rather than specifically targeting Dashain.”

Last year, however, the central bank had not provided the new note exchange facility. Instead, the central bank had brought clean notes into circulation.
