KATHMANDU, Oct 29: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced a ban on the sale and distribution of plastic flowers during the Tihar festival.

Mayor Balendra Shah shared that 46 designated locations across Kathmandu have been set up to support the sale of locally-grown flowers during the Tihar, Nepal Sambat, and Chhath festivals.

Drawing from last year’s experiences, Mayor Shah mentioned that arrangements have been improved this year to support local flower farmers by organizing sales in malls, parks, party venues, and other locations. Local traders can choose the most suitable location, with contact support and assistance from the Metropolitan Police Force available to ease the process.

Mayor Shah urged traders to avoid selling plastic flowers or decorations, warning that violators will face legal action.
