Special Court Extends Detention of Former Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel by Six Days

Banking News — The Special Court has granted investigators an additional six days to keep former Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel in custody as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.

The order was issued by a bench comprising Judges Hemanta Rawal, Dilli Ratna Shrestha, and Umesh Koirala.

Poudel was arrested in Surkhet after investigators alleged that he had engaged in suspicious financial transactions with businessman Deepak Bhatt, who is also under investigation for alleged money laundering.

This is the third extension of Poudel’s judicial remand. The Special Court had initially authorized seven days of detention, followed by a three-day extension granted on June 29 (Asar 15, 2083 BS).

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged money laundering case.
