Banking News – The National Federation of Nepali Transport Entrepreneurs has urged all concerned not to charge more than the prescribed vehicle fare during the festival period. According to Dekanath Gautam, General Secretary of the Federation, information has been given that action will be taken against vehicles charging more than the fare set by the government. The government has already decided to open advance ticket booking for passenger vehicles across the country starting Ashoj 23 for this year’s Dashain.
To make passenger and cargo transportation smooth, organized, and safe, the Department of Transport Management, National Federation of Nepali Transport Entrepreneurs, labor unions and organizations, Nepal Police Headquarters, and the Valley Traffic Police Office had decided to open advance ticket booking. The Federation has issued necessary directives to the seven provinces, district committees, member associations and organizations, and branch heads and employees working at the Gongabu Bus Park in Kathmandu.

According to the Federation, employees deployed at advance ticket booking counters must mandatorily wear the prescribed uniform and identity card. They must treat passengers with courtesy, provide tickets easily, and ensure safe travel. To manage the Dashain rush, the operation of large vehicles including trailers on the Narayangadh-Kathmandu road section will be prohibited from Ghatasthapana on Ashoj 25 to Kartik 8. However, according to prevailing law, there will be no restriction on the movement of vehicles carrying food items, medicines, fruits, and other essential materials.
Similarly, long and medium route permits have been opened across Nepal for passenger vehicles from Ghatasthapana to Kartik 10. The Federation has stated that the restriction imposed on the operation of public vehicles of certain sizes and types due to the special nature of the road will remain unchanged.
The Department of Transport Management will deploy a team including “focal persons” to monitor and facilitate passenger assistance booths established at major entry points of the Kathmandu Valley. From the Federation’s side, responsibilities have been assigned in the Gongabu Bus Park, Kalanki, Koteshwor, Gaushala, and Chabahil areas. Priority has been given to the “fitness” test of passenger vehicles. Arrangements will be made for free fitness testing of vehicles at the Gongabu Bus Park itself by deploying technical staff from the Vehicle Testing Office, Teku, of the Department of Transport Management.
