Banking News – Chairman of FinTech Alliance Nepal, Amit Agrawal, has stated that Nepal is preparing to make a big leap in digital transformation. Addressing the second edition of “FinTech Expo 2026,” which began today, Agrawal said Nepal is preparing to take a major digital leap.

He stated that nearly 2 crore population has come under the ambit of the National Identity Card. In a country with a total population of 3 crore, 2 crore people have already obtained national identity cards, he said. He stated that once this data begins to be used in the future across all sectors including banks and financial institutions, mobile wallets, health, and education, Nepal will make a digital leap.

“Biometric-enabled 20 million national identity cards have been made. This is a big success,” he said. “It can be said that Nepal is currently in a transition phase.”

Similarly, he also stated that an investment environment is being created in the country at this time. He said that more than Rs 14 kharb in investable funds has accumulated in banks, and interest rates are at a low level. However, Agrawal says that the failure of this loanable amount to flow is a problem.
