Banking News — The government is preparing to launch the first phase of the ‘Blue Bus’ service in Kathmandu Valley from July 17 (Shrawan 1, 2083 BS), with eight buses set to begin operations.

The initiative is part of the government’s 100-point Governance Reform Action Plan, which aims to provide free and safe public transportation for women across all seven provinces.
According to Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development spokesperson Ram Hari Pokharel, a total of 25 buses are expected to be deployed within the government’s first 100 days.
To facilitate the service, Sajha Yatayat has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Finance seeking feedback and approval. The bus service is expected to commence following the ministry’s consent.
In the initial phase, two buses will operate on the Lagankhel–Budhanilkantha route, while two more will run between Thankot–Nagdhunga–Tribhuvan International Airport. An additional four buses will operate along the Ring Road, with two running clockwise and two operating in the anti-clockwise direction, according to the ministry.
