Constitutional Council to Meet on Appointments to Vacant Constitutional Bodies


Banking News — Nepal’s Constitutional Council is scheduled to meet on Friday evening to discuss appointments to several vacant positions in constitutional bodies.

The meeting will be held at 5:00 PM at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, according to Bhim Raj Angdembe, Leader of the Parliamentary Party of the Nepali Congress and Leader of the Main Opposition.

Angdembe said the meeting’s agenda includes discussions on recommending candidates for vacant positions in various constitutional commissions and bodies.

At present, the Election Commission has two vacant positions, including that of the Chief Election Commissioner. The National Human Rights Commission has one vacant member position, while the Muslim Commission has two vacancies, including the chairperson.

Similarly, the National Inclusion Commission has two vacant positions, including its chairperson, while the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has one vacant position.

The Tharu Commission and the Madhesi Commission each have two vacancies, including their respective chairpersons. Likewise, the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission has three vacant positions, including the chairperson, while the National Women Commission has one vacant member position.
