Sugarcane Farmers Receive Nearly Rs. 2 Billion in Payments in Mahottari


Banking News – Sugarcane farmers who supplied their produce to two sugar mills in Mahottari have received nearly Rs. 2 billion in payments for the 2025/26 crushing season, according to the Mahottari District Administration Office.

The office said farmers have so far been paid Rs. 1.765 billion for sugarcane supplied to Everest Sugar and Chemical Industries, located in Ward No. 1 of Gaushala Municipality, and Siddhivinayak Sugar and Chemical Industries, located in Ward No. 12 of the same municipality.

Records show that farmers delivered a total of 2.867 million quintals and 96 kilograms of sugarcane to the two mills during the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26).

According to Administrative Officer Kameshwar Yadav, the total amount payable for the supplied sugarcane stands at Rs. 1.773 billion, of which Rs. 1.765 billion has already been disbursed.

Meanwhile, the government has also initiated the process of releasing subsidy payments to sugarcane farmers. The District Payment Committee has recommended Rs. 200.76 million in subsidy payments to the District Treasury and Comptroller Office, Yadav said.

The payment committee, chaired by the Chief District Officer, is responsible for recommending subsidy disbursements in the district.

The Mahottari District Administration Office said both the remaining sugarcane payments and the government subsidy are expected to be fully disbursed by the end of the current Nepali month of Asar.
