Banking News – Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that the Government of Nepal is seeking continued development cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) based on the country’s changing priorities and emerging development needs.

Addressing a programme in Kathmandu marking the 60th anniversary of Nepal–UNDP partnership, Minister Wagle thanked UNDP for its six decades of support across various development sectors in Nepal.
He praised UNDP’s contributions to poverty reduction, inequality mitigation, sustainable development, education, healthcare, environmental conservation, democratic strengthening, youth empowerment, and digital transformation.
“UNDP’s contribution to poverty alleviation, reducing inequality, sustainable development, education, health, and other key sectors has been invaluable. I sincerely thank the organization and hope that this partnership, which has now completed 60 years, continues for the next 100 years,” he said.
The Finance Minister noted that long-term development cooperation under the United Nations framework should not be measured solely by the amount of financial investment, but should also be viewed as a platform for broad international collaboration, partnership, and coordination.
He further expressed appreciation for UNDP’s role in supporting Nepal’s environmental protection, democratic development, youth empowerment, and digital advancement.
Recalling his own professional journey, Minister Wagle said he had also spent an important part of his career working with UNDP.
On the occasion, he also unveiled a commemorative photo book titled “60 Years of Partnership,” which showcases UNDP’s development initiatives and achievements in Nepal over the past six decades.
