Banking News – Fly Dubai, which started regular international flights from Pokhara International Airport, completed one month today. Fly Dubai had started regular flights on the route from Ashoj 7. According to Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of the Civil Aviation Office at Pokhara International Airport, out of 30 flights operated in one month, 6,362 passengers were served — 4,521 on the Dubai-Pokhara route and 1,841 on the Pokhara-Dubai route. According to him, the first month of international flights is being viewed as encouraging.

“Due to the great festivals of Nepalis, Dashain and Tihar, the number of passengers coming from Dubai is increasing, and those going from here are also increasing. With everyone’s support and efforts, it can be believed that international flights from Pokhara Airport will become regular and long-term. For this, the government and private sector must work together on promotional activities,” said General Manager Niraula.

Dhanraj Acharya, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, described the achievement of the first month of regular flights as encouraging and emphasized the need to increase the number of passengers traveling from Pokhara to Dubai. He thanked Fly Dubai’s management team for opening ticket bookings until October 2027 to continue the Pokhara-Dubai flight.

“Although the number of passengers coming to Pokhara from Dubai is good, if the number of passengers going from Pokhara to Dubai can be increased, the flight can be made more effective and sustainable. We have urged the citizens of Pokhara and Gandaki Province, tourism entrepreneurs, travel companies, hoteliers, industrialists, and the private sector to travel internationally from Pokhara as much as possible,” said Mayor Acharya.

He also requested that personal, family, business, and institutional travel programs be started from Pokhara itself and that travel packages for international destinations be operated from Pokhara. Mentioning that there is a facility to travel to more than 300 destinations worldwide on a single ticket through Fly Dubai and its partner airline Emirates, Mayor Acharya urged making Pokhara a departure point not only for Dubai but also for travel to various cities around the world connected from there.

As regular international flights have started from Pokhara after a long time, it is expected to increase the use of Pokhara International Airport and make a positive contribution to tourism, trade, employment, and overall regional economic development. International flights had not been possible for a long time from Pokhara Airport, which was inaugurated on Poush 17, 2079. Except for occasional international charter flights, this airport had been limited to domestic flights. After Fly Dubai’s flight, other airline companies have also been attracted to operate flights to Pokhara.
