Banking News – CPN (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has commented that these days, fake gods are being born in society and causing trouble. Addressing the “Madan Bhandari Memorial Foundation Nepal Souvenir Launch Program” held at the Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, Chairman Oli made this comment while referring to the context of the birth of deities and Parvati’s curse.

Chairman Oli, linking the context of gods being born in abundance 2,200-2,300 years ago and the reference to thirty-three crore deities, stated that the birth of deities stopped after Parvati cursed them.

“When gods were being born in abundance 2,200-2,300 years ago, thirty-three crore were born. Thankfully, Parvati cursed them and deities could not be born,” Chairman Oli said. “After it was said that no deity should have children anymore, the deities stopped, but after Parvati’s curse, fake gods have been born again and are causing trouble.”

Chairman Oli also stated that there is a tendency in Nepali society to easily believe ascetics coming from the south but not to give adequate importance to scholars from one’s own country.

“We ourselves have a custom of feeling like bowing down and holding the feet of ascetics from the south as soon as they come,” Chairman Oli said. “We do not recognize our own scholars that much.”

Chairman Oli, noting the tendency to quote texts written by foreigners more than quoting texts written by Nepalis, expressed the view that one’s own knowledge, scholarship, and intellectual tradition should be given importance.
