Banking News – Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, along with several cabinet ministers, visited the Holding Centre in Kharipati, Bhaktapur, on Sunday to inspect the facility and interact with displaced landless families temporarily residing there.

Joining the Home Minister during the visit were Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal, Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Wadi, Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta, and Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav.
During the inspection, Minister Rawal said the government is committed to providing a sustainable solution for landless families, adding that once all legal procedures are completed and land ownership certificates (Lalpurja) are issued, the process will be beyond dispute.
She acknowledged that resolving the issue would take time but stressed that the government is working toward a long-term settlement rather than a temporary fix. Rawal also urged all parties not to politicize the issue of landless communities.
According to the Home Minister’s Secretariat, the ministers also held discussions with residents at the holding centre and briefed them on the government’s immediate and long-term plans for their rehabilitation and management.
The landless families currently staying at the Kharipati Holding Centre were relocated from the Kirtipur Holding Centre after the earlier facility was affected by flooding. The government said it is continuing efforts to ensure their safety while working on a permanent rehabilitation plan.
