Pokhara Metropolitan Steps Up Management of Stray Cattle

Banking News – Pokhara Metropolitan City has rescued and managed 320 stray cattle abandoned on roads as part of its efforts to improve animal welfare and reduce road accidents.

The rescued animals have been relocated to Pushkarani Paropakar Gokuldham (Gaushala), where they are being cared for. The shelter has also started generating income by selling milk and compost fertilizer produced at the facility.

According to Municipal Police Inspector Purushottam Thapa, the metropolitan’s animal rescue vehicle transports stray cattle found on roads to the shelter located at Bachhibuduwa, Ward No. 14, Pokhara.

“We rescue stray cattle found on the roads and transport them to the gaushala for proper care,” Thapa said.

With the protection and care of the animals, the site has become widely recognized as Gokuldham. More than 320 cattle, including cows, oxen, and calves, are currently housed at the shelter.

Pokhara Metropolitan City provides annual financial support to help operate the gaushala and ensure the continued care of the rescued animals.
