Banking News – The Jhapa District Land Problem Resolution Committee has distributed land ownership certificates (Lalpurja) to five families living in unplanned settlements in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, officially recognizing them as legal landowners.

According to the committee, some of the allocated land is designated for residential purposes, while other plots are intended for agricultural use.
The beneficiaries, who had lived for years without legal ownership of the land they occupied, have now obtained official land ownership certificates, granting them legal rights over their properties.
The government has identified the settlement of land-related issues affecting landless Dalits, landless squatters, and unplanned settlers as one of its key priorities. Earlier, it distributed land ownership certificates to 29 landless families in Badhaiyatal, Bardiya.
The ongoing distribution of land ownership certificates is part of the government’s broader initiative to provide a long-term solution to land ownership issues and ensure legal land rights for landless Dalits, squatters, and unplanned settlers across the country.
