Armed Police Seize Unaccounted Indian Currency Worth INR 500,000 at Jamunaha Border


Banking News – The Armed Police Force (APF) has seized Indian currency worth INR 500,000 with no identifiable source at the Jamunaha border checkpoint in Banke District during a routine security inspection.

According to the APF Border Security Base, Jamunaha, the cash was recovered by a patrol team conducting regular inspections in Jamunaha, Nepalgunj Metropolitan City–15.

The Indian currency amounting to INR 500,000 is being handed over to the Banke Customs Office for further investigation and legal procedures.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tirtha Neupane said the cash was discovered hidden inside goods being transported from India to Nepal in a rickshaw, but authorities have not been able to identify its owner.

The APF stated that security surveillance along the border has been intensified since DIG Deepak Adhikari assumed command of APF No. 5 Bindhyabasini Brigade. The force has stepped up operations against cross-border crimes, illegal smuggling, and unlawful financial transactions.

Authorities added that security checks at Jamunaha and other border points in Banke have been strengthened, with increased monitoring of individuals suspected of involvement in illegal trade and cross-border criminal activities.
