Bank Deposits Rise 10.3% to Rs. 80.12 Trillion in First 11 Months of Fiscal Year


Banking News – Deposits held by banks and financial institutions increased by 10.3% (Rs. 748.62 billion) during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, reaching Rs. 80.12 trillion, according to the latest data released by Nepal Rastra Bank.

During the same period of the previous fiscal year, deposits had grown by 8.0% (Rs. 517.60 billion). On a year-on-year basis, total deposits increased by 15.0% as of mid-June 2026 (Jestha-end 2083).

The central bank’s data show that current deposits accounted for 6.9% of total deposits, savings deposits 46.6%, and fixed deposits 37.3% as of Jestha-end 2083. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the shares stood at 5.7%, 36.2%, and 50.2%, respectively.

Institutional deposits represented 33.7% of total deposits as of Jestha-end 2083, compared with 35.5% during the same period a year earlier, indicating a slight decline in the share of institutional funds within the banking system.
