Banking News – Tourist arrivals at Chitwan National Park and its buffer zone community forests increased during the last fiscal year, with the park welcoming 272,923 visitors, up from 231,329 in the previous fiscal year.

According to Information Officer Avinash Thapa Magar, the park received 22,883 visitors from SAARC countries and 88,665 tourists from other foreign nations, while the remaining visitors were domestic tourists. The park continues to attract visitors with its iconic one-horned rhinoceroses, Bengal tigers, bears, elephants and diverse bird species.
The park generated more than Rs. 276.3 million (Rs. 27.63 crore) in eco-tourism revenue during the fiscal year, reflecting the growing popularity of Nepal’s wildlife tourism.
In addition, total revenue reached Rs. 310.16 million (Rs. 31.01 crore), including earnings from the sale of timber, firewood, non-timber forest products, fines and other sources, highlighting the park’s significant contribution to conservation financing and the local economy.
