Nepal Rastra Bank Approves Historic Merger of IME Pay and Khalti, Launching “IME Khalti Limited”


Kathmandu, June 19 – In a groundbreaking move for Nepal’s digital finance sector, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has officially approved the nation’s first-ever digital wallet merger between IME Pay and Khalti. The two prominent wallet services will now operate under the unified banner of “IME Khalti Limited”, with the familiar Khalti app leading the unified platform.

The new entity is set to launch its integrated services starting July, promising a seamless transition over the next three months. Users can expect the consolidation of wallet balances, reward points, and access to an expanded range of services including digital remittance, interest-earning options, credit card applications, and even the ability to open bank accounts all from within a single powerful application.

This strategic merger is expected to redefine Nepal’s digital payments landscape, enhancing convenience and efficiency for millions of users across the country.
