Banking News – Biratnagar Kings has retained Dhammika Prasad as head coach for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). With this, Prasad will also handle the coaching and strategic leadership of Biratnagar Kings in the upcoming season. Former Sri Lankan international cricketer Dhammika Prasad played Test, One Day International, and T20 international cricket for the Sri Lankan national team during his playing career. Right-arm fast bowler Prasad played 25 Tests, 24 ODIs, and 14 T20 internationals for Sri Lanka.
As a coach, Dhammika Prasad has worked with various international teams. He has worked as assistant and bowling coach for the USA national cricket team, as well as served as the former bowling coach of the Nepal and Oman national cricket teams. In franchise cricket, Prasad has worked as bowling coach of Colombo Kings in the Lanka Premier League, training director of Kandy Bolts, and assistant coach of Kandy Royals. Similarly, he has also handled the responsibility of coach of Florida Lions in the Cayman Islands Match 60 and Gujarat Diamonds in the Big Cricket League.

Biratnagar Kings has retained Prasad, considering his international experience — especially his expertise in bowling coaching, player development, and team management — as important for the third edition of the NPL. Dhammika Prasad has expressed happiness at receiving the responsibility again at Biratnagar Kings. He stated that he is excited to be able to work with Biratnagar Kings again.
“I am very happy and excited to be associated with Biratnagar Kings this season as well. Last season, when we had to exit from the playoffs, that moment was very painful and disappointing. We had worked very hard, but we could not achieve the expected result. The pain of that is still with all of us. This experience has made us even stronger and more committed this time. This time we will give our hundred percent and fight until the last ball for the trophy,” Prasad said.
As part of preparations for NPL Season-3, Biratnagar Kings is currently training at the Purbanchal Cricket Academy in Uttar Pradesh, India. The team is playing practice matches under floodlights there against Indian players who have played in the Ranji Trophy. Prasad stated that the training being held in India is progressing well.
“Our training in India is going well. The players are getting good training. Practicing with experienced players who have played in the Ranji Trophy is making our preparation even stronger. We are aiming to make excellent preparations for the NPL,” Prasad said.
Under the leadership of Dhammika Prasad, Biratnagar Kings aims to put up a strong performance in the third edition of the NPL and compete for the title.
