eSewa Expands Access to Health Insurance Through Sahara Health Insurance

Banking NewseSewa, Nepal’s leading digital payment service provider, is expanding public access to affordable health insurance through its Sahara Health Insurance plan in collaboration with Shikhar Insurance Company.

The insurance scheme offers health and accident coverage of up to NPR 600,000, with premiums starting from NPR 1,399. Designed as a fully digital service, the plan enables customers to purchase or renew insurance directly through the eSewa app, eliminating paperwork and the need to visit insurance offices.

Under the scheme, customers can choose health insurance coverage of NPR 100,000, NPR 200,000, or NPR 500,000, depending on their needs and age. The policy covers hospitalization of 24 hours or more, cashless treatment at more than 25 hospitals, over 150 daycare medical services, and eligible medical expenses incurred before admission and after discharge. It also includes accident insurance coverage of up to NPR 100,000.

Available to individuals aged 5 to 65 years, the insurance can be purchased through the Insurance section of the eSewa app. After entering the required details, selecting the desired coverage, and completing the payment, customers receive their digital insurance policy instantly.

According to eSewa, Sahara Health Insurance has become an effective solution for reducing the financial burden caused by illness, accidents, and medical emergencies while making quality health insurance more accessible to the general public. The company said it remains committed to strengthening both health security and financial protection through affordable premiums, a seamless digital process, and comprehensive coverage.

Launched in Bhadra last year, the insurance plan has already benefited more than 10,000 customers within its first year. eSewa continues to expand its digital financial services and insurance offerings through partnerships with multiple insurance companies to improve insurance accessibility across Nepal.
