Iran Warns Strait of Hormuz Will Remain Closed Until U.S. Halts Military Actions

Banking News – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes, will remain closed until the United States ends what it described as its “aggressive military activities.” The IRGC also cautioned that other regional oil and gas export routes linked to U.S. interests could become potential targets.

According to Iranian state media, escalating U.S.–Iran tensions since late February have severely disrupted oil and gas transportation through the Gulf region, raising concerns across global energy markets. The Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime corridor for international energy supplies, has become a focal point of the conflict.

The IRGC claimed it had launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to American attacks. It further warned that maritime energy routes connected to U.S. strategic and economic interests could face additional threats if hostilities continue.

In its statement, the IRGC accused the United States of attempting to influence global oil and gas supply chains through its naval operations. It declared that the consequences of those actions could extend to other energy export routes used by U.S. allies, although it did not specify which routes might be affected.

“Oil and gas exports from this region will either be available to everyone or to no one,” the IRGC said, reiterating that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the United States ceases its military operations.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials have rejected Iran’s claim that it can fully control the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Washington and its allies will take all necessary measures to ensure international shipping lanes remain open and secure.
