Banking News – Purbanchal University has passed a budget of Rs 1 arab 99 crore 16 lakh 97 thousand for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. The 43rd Assembly of the university, held under the chairmanship of Minister for Education and Sports and University Co-Chancellor Sasmitha Pokharel at the Ministry of Education in Singha Durbar, passed the budget along with policies and programs.

The university has prioritized academic transformation, technology-friendly infrastructure, and expansion of medical education in the coming year. The budget includes a program to develop integrated physical infrastructure according to a master plan on 805 bighas of land in Gothgaun, Morang. The university is preparing to operate new and specialized courses in fields including artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and cybersecurity. There are also plans to develop specialized courses in medicine and engineering.

A program to connect the university’s administrative and academic services to a digital system has also been put forward. The goal is to make service delivery easy, transparent, and technology-friendly through an integrated digital ecosystem. In medical education, there is a plan to complete the construction of a 100-bed maternal and child hospital under construction at the Gothgaun campus in the coming year. Programs to improve the quality of medical education will also be conducted in collaboration with Koshi Hospital.

Addressing the assembly, Education Minister Pokharel stated that change is necessary in higher education according to the demands of technology and globalization. He stated that the university must develop students not just as human resources who seek employment but as entrepreneurial human resources capable of creating employment. He directed that a clear action plan, responsibilities, and timelines be determined for the implementation of the passed policies and programs.

Ministry of Education Secretary Chudamani Poudel stated that along with effective implementation of the budget, attention must be paid to reforming the academic system. Ministry of Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay expressed the view that the university’s budget and policy programs are positive. The university has also put forward a program to establish a special research center on climate change and disaster risk reduction. The budget also includes plans to operate joint degree and student exchange programs with foreign universities and expand access to inclusive scholarships for disadvantaged groups.

The assembly has nominated three individuals to the Executive Council for three years. Prof. Dr. Paricha Upadhyay Dhungel, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Dr. Krishna Prasad Pandey, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education; and Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Professor at Purbanchal University School of Management, Biratnagar, have been nominated to the Executive Council. Through the passed budget and programs, a plan has been put forward to develop Purbanchal University as a quality, research-oriented, technology-friendly, and self-reliant academic institution.
