Nepal Oil Corporation Says Fuel Supply and Distribution Have Returned to Normal

Banking NewsNepal Oil Corporation has said that disruptions in the sale and distribution of petroleum products have been resolved, assuring consumers that fuel supplies are now operating normally.

Clarifying reports of long queues at fuel stations in Kathmandu Valley and other major cities, the corporation’s spokesperson, Manoj Thakur, said the congestion was caused by low fuel stocks at some petrol pumps rather than any shortage in supply.

“The queues were seen because some fuel stations had low inventories. Fuel has already been dispatched from the Thankot Depot according to demand. Supplies have already reached some stations, while deliveries to others are currently underway,” Thakur said. “The issues affecting the sale and distribution of petroleum products have now been resolved, and there is no problem at present.”

Following a sudden surge in consumer demand at fuel stations in Kathmandu Valley and other major cities, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies directed the corporation to inspect several fuel stations.

According to Thakur, petrol pumps in the Kathmandu Valley collected 1.3 million litres of diesel and 1.3 million litres of petrol from the corporation’s Thankot Depot on Wednesday. More than 130 fuel stations operate across the valley.
