Banking News – Nepal’s Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security has announced that the monthly child nutrition allowance will be increased from Rs. 532 to Rs. 1,000 beginning in the next fiscal year as part of the government’s efforts to improve child nutrition and reduce malnutrition.

The increased allowance will be provided to all children in 25 districts with low human development indicators, as well as to Dalit children across the country, who are currently eligible for the benefit.
According to the ministry, the enhanced allowance is expected to improve children’s nutritional status, help reduce malnutrition, strengthen the protection of children’s rights, and promote a more child-friendly social security system.
The ministry also noted that several maternal and child health and nutrition programs are currently being implemented through the Ministry of Health. It said greater coordination and collaboration among relevant agencies will be pursued to make maternal and child health and nutrition programs more effective, integrated, and results-oriented in the coming years.
The ministry expressed confidence that its social protection and social security programs targeting women and children will further contribute to improving maternal and child health, child nutrition, and overall child welfare across the country.
