Banking News – Nepal’s Department of Livestock Services has announced that bird flu has been brought under control in seven districts, including Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Mahottari, Bara, Chitwan, and Nawalparasi.

According to the department, the highly contagious avian influenza outbreak had recently spread across 11 districts. However, the disease has not yet been fully contained in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kavrepalanchok.
Department spokesperson Mukul Upadhyay said technical teams were deployed to infected areas, where all infected birds, poultry products, and poultry production materials were destroyed and safely disposed of as part of the disease control campaign.
During the containment effort, Animal Quarantine Offices maintained heightened surveillance and carried out patrols to seize and destroy poultry that had been illegally imported.
The department said restrictions on the transportation of poultry have now been eased in areas where the outbreak has been brought under control.
Upadhyay noted that bird flu is a highly contagious disease with a high mortality rate among poultry. He added that federal, provincial, and local governments coordinated their efforts and mobilized the necessary manpower to contain the outbreak in affected areas.
