Banking News – The government has begun assessing the physical infrastructure and machinery of the long-shuttered Hetauda Textile Industry as part of preparations to bring the state-owned factory back into operation.

According to Himalaya Bhandari, the evaluation of the factory’s equipment and facilities is underway following the government’s decision to revive the industry.
Bhandari said the relevant government agencies have intensified field inspections and technical assessments to determine the condition of the plant and the feasibility of resuming operations.
The Hetauda Textile Industry was established in 1975 (BS 2032) and produced textiles from 1978 (BS 2035) until 1999 (BS 2056). The factory has remained closed since 2000 (BS 2057).
As part of this year’s initiative to revive the industry, the government has stepped up on-site inspections and coordination among concerned agencies.
Alongside the Hetauda Textile Industry, the state-owned Butwal Yarn Factory and the Banke Cotton Processing Factory also remain closed.
