Government Committed to Implementing Recommendations of Constitutional Bodies: Minister Gautam

Banking NewsMinister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the recommendations made by Nepal’s constitutional bodies, stating that the government is dedicated to ensuring their effective execution.

Speaking at Friday’s meeting of the National Assembly during the first-ever parliamentary discussion on the National Inclusive Commission’s Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2024/25 (FY 2081/82 BS), Minister Gautam said the government would take forward the recommendations and issues raised during the debate.

Responding on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, the minister emphasized that constitutional commissions are independent of the government and accountable to Parliament, while the government’s role is to facilitate the implementation of the recommendations contained in their reports.

She noted that although discussions on such reports had previously taken place within the Business Advisory Committee, bringing the debate to the floor of the National Assembly marked a new parliamentary practice aimed at strengthening oversight and accountability.

During the discussion, National Assembly members Padam Bahadur Pariyar, Madan Kumari Shah, Prem Prasad Dangal, Mohammad Khalid, Tul Prasad Bishwakarma, Dharmendra Paswan, Suresh Kumar Ale Magar, Roshani Meche, Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Somanath Portel, and Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma expressed their views and offered suggestions on the commission’s report.

The National Assembly has been scheduled to reconvene at 1:15 p.m. on July 15 (Asar 31).
