Banking News – Chief Business Officer at NSDL, Sameer Patil, has drawn a thoughtful parallel between the traditional Garba dance and the functioning of capital markets, highlighting shared values of rhythm, trust, continuity, and balance.
Sharing his reflections from a Garba evening organized by ANMI WIRC Western Region, Patil stated that the event celebrated not just culture but the community that powers India’s markets. According to him, Garba and the markets have more in common than one might think.
He explained the similarities on several fronts. On Rhythm and Trust, he noted that Garba shines when hundreds move together in sync, just as markets thrive when every participant investor, broker, DP, exchange, and MII plays their part responsibly, as one person out of rhythm affects the circle and one breach of trust affects the ecosystem.

On Continuity, Patil stated that Garba has no beginning or end, much like investing, which is not about one trade or one cycle but about staying in the circle with discipline and patience. On Balance, he observed that the tempo changes and the dancer adjusts, just as markets have their phases of optimism and volatility, with success lying in maintaining balance.

He further noted that every dancer, whether in the first row or the last, adds energy, just as every market participant is powering India’s financialization journey.
Patil stated that at National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), the organization sees itself as a custodian of trust, making the investor journey more secure, efficient, and accessible. He thanked ANMI Western Region for bringing culture and capital markets together in such a beautiful way, with a closing message to stay disciplined, stay connected, respect the rhythm, and move together.
