KATHMANDU, Nov 6 – Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Honorary Consul of Indonesia to Nepal, has been awarded Indonesia’s prestigious ‘Caraka Buwana Award’. Presented by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the award recognizes Dhakal’s contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and Indonesia.
Ambassador Heru H Subolo presented the award to Dhakal in a special ceremony in Kathmandu, commending his efforts to deepen collaboration in tourism, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation between the two nations. Ambassador Subolo remarked, “President Dhakal’s commitment has fostered a spirit of cooperation that benefits both countries.”
In his acceptance speech, Dhakal expressed gratitude to the Indonesian government and Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that the award serves as an encouragement to further promote mutual growth and prosperity for Nepal and Indonesia. Dhakal highlighted two landmark agreements recently signed during the 79th UN General Assembly: the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism and a Visa Exemption Agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, both instrumental in strengthening ties and facilitating official travel.
Dhakal noted the growing interest of Nepalese tourists in Indonesia, especially in Bali, and suggested that an on-arrival visa for Nepalese visitors would enhance tourism and cultural exchange.
The ceremony was attended by ambassadors, officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other dignitaries. Dhakal has served as Honorary Consul of Indonesia since 2010 and was also recognized for his relief efforts during Nepal’s 2015 earthquake. This award underscores his pivotal role in advancing Nepal-Indonesia relations, marking a significant milestone in the countries’ ongoing partnership.
