Lawmakers Urge Swift Action on Cooperative Victims’ Issues and Revival of Copper Mining in Mugu

Banking News – National Assembly member Goma Devi Timilsina has urged the government to swiftly address the grievances of cooperative victims. Speaking at today’s National Assembly session, she emphasized that no political leader or party member involved in the misappropriation of cooperative funds should be shielded.

“There is a growing concern that the current government is not paying enough attention to resolving cooperative-related issues. Many people have suffered due to cooperative mismanagement, and their problems must be addressed as soon as possible,” she stated.

Similarly, lawmaker Durga Gurung called on the government to conduct a scientific study and resume copper mining operations in Mugu district, Karnali Province.

“In Karmarong Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, locals have historically extracted and processed raw copper for trade in Tibet and various parts of Nepal. However, mining was halted in 1967 following a government order. I urge the government to take steps for its revival,” Gurung stated.
