Kathmandu- Deputy Executive Officer (DCO) of Global IME Bank, Suman Pokharel, has said that most of the remittances have been deposited in bank accounts recently. DCO Pokharel while speaking in the third session of ‘Second National Banking Discourse 2024’ on ‘Sustainable usefulness of remittances for socio-economic development and future guidelines’ said that in recent times remittances are being deposited in bank accounts instead of being stored as cash at home.
DCO Pokharal said, “Recently, remittances are being deposited in bank accounts rather than real estate. Remittances are reduced to piles in cash only at home. Due to the various digital facilities provided by the banks, there has been an increase in deposits in the bank.
Pokharal said that currently 74 percent of remittances are received from banks and financial institutions. In the third session of the discourse, ‘Sustainable usefulness of remittances for socio-economic development and future guidelines’, Executive Director of Bank and Financial Institutions Regulation Department of Nepal Rastra Bank Guru Prasad Paudel, Demographic Data Expert Chetan Adhikari, Executive Director of Foreign Employment Board Dharika Upreti, Deputy Executive Officer (DCEO) Suman Pokharel is the Deputy Executive Officer (DCEO) of Global IME Bank.
