Kathmandu – Banking service disruptions at two major Iranian banks have created anxiety among depositors just days before the Persian New Year, according to local media reports.
Reports indicate that banking services at Bank Melli Iran and Bank Sepah have faced significant interruptions, affecting customers’ access to their funds and digital banking services.
According to IranWire, customers have been experiencing problems for nearly a week. The disruptions have affected mobile banking systems, internal banking networks, and in-person services.
Users of Bank Melli have reported technical problems with the bank’s mobile banking platform and its online service application known as the BAM app. Similarly, customers of Bank Sepah have reported failures in the bank’s “Omid” banking system.
Customers have complained about being unable to access their accounts, transfer funds, or use several online banking services.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that customers have gathered outside branches of Bank Melli in cities including Tehran, Karaj, and Fardis as frustration grows over the service outages.
The disruption appears to be even more severe at Bank Sepah, where ATMs in many areas have reportedly stopped functioning. Customers have said they are unable to withdraw cash either through ATMs or directly from bank branches.
With salaries and savings deposited in these banks, many customers have expressed concern and anger as they remain unable to access their money ahead of the New Year celebrations.
