Nepal becomes a formal Sub-Chapter of CHiME India Chapter, connecting the country’s healthcare IT leaders to a worldwide network of digital health excellence
KATHMANDU — Nepal Mediciti Hospital made history on May 8 by hosting the first-ever meeting of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHiME) in Nepal a landmark event that brought together healthcare IT professionals from 15 private and government hospitals across the country and formally established Nepal as a Sub-Chapter of the CHiME India Chapter.

CHiME is a globally respected, non-profit executive organisation dedicated to advancing digital health leadership across the world. Its presence now extends to Nepal, marking a significant step in the country’s journey toward a modern, connected healthcare system.
Nepal Joins a Global Community of Digital Health IT Leaders
Sudhakar Rai, Chief Digital & Information Officer of Nepal Mediciti and Member of the CHiME India Board, described the moment as transformational for Nepal’s healthcare landscape.
“CHiME is where the world’s most forward-thinking healthcare IT leaders come together to collaborate, to share what works, and to raise the standard of digital health globally,” said Rai. “Being connected with CHiME gives Nepal a vital opportunity to align its healthcare information systems with internationally recognised standards. Our professionals will now have direct access to global expertise, advanced technologies, and best practices that can meaningfully strengthen Nepal’s healthcare system for every patient, in every corner of the country.”
The CHiME Nepal Community: What It Means for Nepal

Looking Ahead
For Rai and the newly formed CHiME Nepal Community, this is only the beginning.
“CHiME’s presence in Nepal will help us move faster accelerating our digital health transformation, strengthening international partnerships, and creating real learning opportunities for our IT professionals through global networking, certifications, research, and policy advocacy,” he said. “This is not just good for our hospitals. It is good for every Nepali patient.”
This milestone builds on Nepal Mediciti’s already-established reputation as a pioneer in healthcare technology. The hospital recently received the prestigious ‘Excellence in Remote Healthcare’ award at The International Health Dialogue (THID) ‘Transforming Healthcare with IT’ conference held in Hyderabad, India. The award, accepted on behalf of the hospital by Sudhakar Rai, recognised Nepal Mediciti’s outstanding contributions in telehealth, telemedicine, TeleICU services, and smart hospital systems all aimed at delivering quality care to patients regardless of where they live.
