Banking News – Light to moderate rainfall continues across the Kathmandu Valley and several hilly regions of Nepal as the monsoon system remains active, prompting meteorologists to urge the public to exercise caution due to the risk of waterlogging and localized flooding.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon trough currently lies south of its normal position over eastern Nepal and near its average position over the western part of the country.
Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane said rainfall is expected to continue in the Kathmandu Valley, increasing the likelihood of waterlogged roads and localized inundation.
“There is a possibility of rainfall continuing in the Valley for some time. Roads may become waterlogged, and some areas could experience localized flooding. Therefore, both motorists and pedestrians are advised to remain cautious,” Lamichhane said.
Senior meteorologist Meen Kumar Aryal said one or two locations in Nepal’s hilly regions could receive heavy rainfall over the next three days.
He noted that while monsoon winds are influencing weather conditions across the country, the system is not particularly strong, reducing the likelihood of widespread heavy rainfall.
“The monsoon is affecting the entire country, but since the system is not very strong, heavy rainfall is likely only at one or two locations in the hilly regions. There is no need for excessive concern, but necessary precautions should still be taken,” Aryal said.
The department reported that light to moderate rainfall is currently occurring in Chitwan and Dolakha of Bagmati Province; Solukhumbu and Morang of Koshi Province; Rolpa, Arghakhanchi, and Palpa of Lumbini Province; Mugu of Karnali Province; and areas around Kailali in Sudurpashchim Province.
Meteorologists have also urged residents living near rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas to closely monitor weather updates and take necessary safety precautions.
