Banking News – The Government of Nepal has launched wheelchair and assistance services at government offices inside Singha Durbar to improve accessibility for physically challenged individuals, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and government employees.

The service was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The initiative has been welcomed by both government employees and service seekers working and visiting Singha Durbar.
The government said the initiative reflects its commitment to fully implementing the rights guaranteed under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and other relevant laws, while fulfilling its legal and moral responsibility to ensure equal access to public services.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Secretary Aryal said service recipients and government employees would no longer have to face mobility challenges while accessing offices inside Singha Durbar. He added that most government buildings within the complex have already been made disability-friendly, while the remaining infrastructure upgrades will be completed soon.
According to Hem Raj Aryal, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the service ensures that both citizens and employees receive assistance from the office premises to their designated departments or workstations. Each wheelchair will be accompanied by a designated staff member who will provide support throughout the visit.
The government said the initiative is intended as a long-term service rather than a one-time arrangement. Physically challenged employees and service seekers entering Singha Durbar will be able to access the facility at any time without difficulty, with plans to gradually expand the service to government offices across the country.
