Cabinet Approves Eight Key Decisions Including New Chief Secretary Appointment


Banking News – The Government of Nepal has made public the key decisions taken during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, announcing a series of policy and administrative measures covering public administration, education, healthcare, human rights, and governance.

Government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel said the Council of Ministers approved the appointment of Govind Bahadur Karki, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal.

The Cabinet also appointed Suraj Shakya of Kathmandu as the Development Commissioner of the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority.

Among the major healthcare decisions, the Cabinet approved the operation of Geta Hospital in Kailali as the teaching hospital of Martyr Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University.

In the education sector, the government endorsed the Foreign Educational Program Operation and Regulation Rules, 2083 and the Educational Consultancy, Language Teaching, and Preparatory Class Operation and Management Rules, 2083.

The Cabinet also approved the Prison Regulations, 2083, the Sixth National Human Rights Action Plan, and the Second Strategic Plan Against Corruption, reaffirming the government’s focus on governance reforms and institutional strengthening.

The eight key Cabinet decisions are:
