Banking News – The Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Office, Tanahun, has urged heightened vigilance across the district amid concerns over the potential spread of bird flu (avian influenza).

Office Chief Robinson Adhikari said the movement of birds and poultry products poses a risk of introducing the disease into the district. He called on poultry farmers, bird traders, consumers, and other stakeholders to take necessary preventive measures.
The office has advised against reusing old egg crates, urged the disinfection of vehicles used to transport poultry and poultry products, and recommended preventing contact between domestic birds, their feed, and wild birds such as crows.
Authorities have also instructed transporters to carry veterinary certificates when transporting poultry feed, ensure regular vaccination against other infectious poultry diseases, and immediately report any suspected infections.
In the event of a confirmed outbreak, farmers have been advised to bury dead birds in deep pits without delay, disinfect affected farms, and implement disease control measures as recommended by veterinary experts.
The Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Office said strict adherence to these preventive measures is essential to reduce the risk of a bird flu outbreak in the district.
