A Career Milestone: From August 1st Start to August 1st CEO
Regmi’s career journey began exactly 36 years ago, on August 1, 1988 (2045 B.S.), at the Western Regional Office in Pokhara of the then-National Commercial Bank. “I entered the banking sector as a senior assistant,” Regmi shared in a conversation with Banking News. “I never missed an opportunity to serve.” Since then, he has gained experience at only two banks. After 20 years at National Commercial Bank, he joined Global IME Bank in 2008.
Born in Falewas, Parbat, Regmi moved to Pokhara for higher education. While studying in his first year, he joined National Commercial Bank. He later earned a master’s degree in economics from Tribhuvan University and completed an MBA in Banking and Finance from the UK.
In 2001, while working at National Commercial Bank, Regmi went to the UK for further studies. After completing his studies in two years, he returned to Nepal and worked at National Commercial Bank for another five years. “There was a requirement to work for five years after studying abroad,” he explained. “After fulfilling that, I joined Global IME.”
In his conversation with Banking News, Regmi advised young professionals to be hardworking and diligent, emphasizing that perseverance leads to leadership roles. “Hard work will yield great rewards,” he said. He also encouraged newcomers to the field not to be afraid, to continue working diligently, and to aspire to leadership positions when the time comes.
