Banking News – The Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal organized a special program featuring a flag-hoisting ceremony at IME Complex, Panipokhari, Kathmandu, to mark Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of the IME Group and former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), who also serves as the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Nepal, hoisted the Indonesian national flag during the ceremony.

Addressing the event, Dhakal said that Nepal-Indonesia relations have continued to strengthen since the two countries established formal diplomatic relations in 1960. He highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade, tourism and cultural exchange.

The special programs organized to mark Indonesia’s Independence Day showcased the country’s economic, social and cultural significance, while further highlighting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Indonesia.

Trade, tourism and investment between the two countries have been growing in recent years. Nepal imports edible oil, coal and petroleum products, paper and paper-related goods from Indonesia, while Nepal exports products including leather, tea, coffee and handicrafts to Indonesia.

The Honorary Consul’s Office said that greater joint efforts are needed to increase Nepal’s exports and attract foreign direct investment to reduce the existing trade imbalance between the two countries.

Dhakal expressed appreciation for the participation of members of the Indonesian community living in Nepal and said the Honorary Consul’s Office remains committed to further expanding trade, investment and tourism cooperation between Nepal and Indonesia.

Representatives of the Indonesian community in Nepal, officials of the Honorary Consul’s Office, senior leadership and representatives of organizations under the IME Group, well-wishers and other distinguished guests attended the program.
