Banking News – Education and Sports Minister Sasmita Pokharel has said the government is working to find sustainable policy solutions to challenges in the education sector through dialogue and suggestions from stakeholders.

In a social media post, Minister Pokharel said that since assuming office as Education Minister, she has adopted a “listen and learn” approach to gain a deeper understanding of issues facing the education sector.

She said that during the first 100 days, the ministry worked on several rules and directives required for immediate reforms and improved governance. The ministry’s priorities will now focus on the new Education Act, Technical Education Act and contemporary reforms in higher education, according to the minister.

As part of the initiative, a team led by the ministry’s Chief Advisor and Head of the School Education Division has been visiting all seven provinces through the “Education Dialogue” program to collect problems, suggestions and expectations from education-sector stakeholders.

The ministry said the dialogue is providing an opportunity to directly hear concerns from local governments, teachers, education officials, parents, schools and students. Issues involving Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilitators, teachers, school management, school employees, parents and students have also been included among the key areas of discussion.

Minister Pokharel said suggestions regarding the role of local governments, challenges in school management and broader policy issues in the education sector will serve as a foundation for future reforms.

Stakeholders who cannot physically attend the dialogue can submit their views through the “Education Dialogue: Suggestions, Problems and Expectations Collection Form.” The ministry said the suggestions received through the form will also be incorporated into the policy-making process.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education is preparing to collect suggestions on the proposed Education Bill by involving local governments across all seven provinces. An expert team formed to revise the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) has also reportedly reached the final stage of its work.

Minister Pokharel said the ministry is committed to completing work on the Education Bill as soon as possible by listening to stakeholders, consulting experts where necessary and making evidence-based decisions.

She reiterated that the ministry remains clear and committed to finding sustainable policy solutions to the country’s educational challenges. Stakeholders can contact 9851014006 to participate in the “Education Dialogue” program.
