Banking News – Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has stated that the government has not reduced the budget for the health insurance program. Speaking at a dialogue program titled “Citizen, Policy and Leadership” organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) at the party office in Banasthali, he made the remarks while responding to queries from participating citizens regarding the government’s stance on health insurance.

He clarified that the previous government had allocated Rs. 10 arab for health insurance last year, and after it proved insufficient, an additional Rs. 11 arab was added. He also made it clear that in this year’s budget, the health insurance budget has been increased by Rs. 5 arab, raising the total allocation to Rs. 15 arab. “The previous government had allocated Rs. 10 arab for health insurance last year. When that amount was insufficient, I added Rs. 11 arab after becoming minister,” he said. “In this year’s budget, I have added Rs. 5 arab and allocated Rs. 15 arab for health insurance.”

He further stated that while the government’s commitment to health insurance is increasing, there remains doubt about whether citizens are receiving services commensurate with the investment. He also clarified that the health insurance program continues to operate in government hospitals and that studies are underway to make it more effective.
