Finance Minister Wagle to Hold Meetings with US Treasury Secretary and World Bank President

Banking News – Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle is set to hold meetings with the US Treasury Secretary and the President of the World Bank. Minister Wagle, who arrived in the United States last night leading a two-member delegation, is scheduled to meet US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga on Monday.

The meetings will discuss strengthening Nepal’s economic partnership and cooperation. Discussions will also be held on various topics including enhancing bilateral cooperation, reconstruction, exit from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, and broad economic reforms.

Finance Minister Wagle will discuss with representatives of the World Bank and the US government on mobilizing additional assistance for the reconstruction and resilient development of physical and economic infrastructure damaged by the recent flood in the Bhote Koshi area.

Additionally, the main objective of the visit is to initiate efforts to increase investment from development partners and the private sector to create employment and economic opportunities within the country through important infrastructure including roads and electricity transmission lines. During the visit, Finance Minister Wagle is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with senior officials of DFC as well as leading investors from the private sector.
