Banking News – Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has held an interaction with intellectuals, industrialists, and businesspersons of Gorkha. During the interaction, participants drew the Home Minister’s attention to various problems seen in the district, the state of development construction, marketing of agricultural production, tourism promotion, and challenges in the industry and business sector.
Intellectuals, industrialists, and businesspersons participating in the program complained that Gorkha has lagged behind in infrastructure development and that despite having tourism potential, the government has not paid adequate attention to the development and promotion of this sector. Their demand was to prioritize the construction of necessary infrastructure to accelerate the overall development of the district.
Similarly, the issue of farmers facing problems due to agricultural production not receiving proper markets and prices was also raised. Stating that the government has not been able to play an effective role in agricultural production and marketing, participants emphasized that vegetables produced by Nepali farmers themselves should be given priority in the market. They stated that the government must take concrete initiatives to end the situation where local products do not find a market and to ensure fair prices for farmers’ produce.

During the interaction, industrialists and businesspersons also expressed their views on the problems seen while operating industries and businesses in the district and the need to improve the business environment. Participants emphasized that the state’s effective role is necessary to expand economic activities by making proper use of the resources and potential available in Gorkha and to create employment opportunities at the local level.
After listening to the grievances and suggestions of participants, Home Minister Gurung stated that it has only been six months since he came to the government and expressed commitment to work toward resolving Gorkha’s problems. Recalling that Gorkha itself made him a minister, he stated that he would take the problems and expectations of the district’s citizens seriously.
Home Minister Gurung expressed commitment to take necessary initiatives for the development of Gorkha and resolution of citizens’ problems. Meanwhile, participants thanked Home Minister Gurung for the immediate initiation of reconstruction of a bridge swept away by the Budhi Gandaki flood a few weeks ago. They expressed positive reactions to the initiative taken to ease movement affected by the disaster.
During the interaction, participants expressed the view that Gorkha residents are looking for leadership that shows results through work rather than speeches and promises. Expressing the expectation that effective work will be done in the district’s development, infrastructure construction, agricultural sector improvement, tourism promotion, and industry and business development, they expressed confidence that Home Minister Gurung will play a result-oriented role.
