Banking News – Among the potential contenders for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, the names of the International Space Station, US President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as well as emergency relief workers in Sudan and a Ukrainian child rights activist have come into discussion.
A total of 287 candidates have been nominated for this year’s prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce the winner on October 9. Hakon Jorlou, Director of the Peace Research Institute Oslo, has stated that at a time when international cooperation is weakening, the space station is a rare symbol of cooperation among various countries.

The list of potential contenders also includes Ukrainian child rights activist Mykola Kuleba, Save the Children, Sudan’s emergency response room, and the Committee to Protect Journalists. The names of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court are also in discussion.
This year’s prize is being announced against the backdrop of ongoing wars and conflicts in Sudan, Ukraine, Yemen, Iran, and the Middle East. Jody Williams, the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize winner, has expressed the expectation that the prize should be awarded to a woman. Among the women contenders in discussion are Gaza surgeon Sara Al-Sakka and Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The Nobel Prize series will begin with Medicine on Monday, while the Peace Prize will be announced on Friday. This year’s prize amount is 1 crore 20 lakh Swedish Kronor.
